About
My name is Jill Lankler and while I am not alone in my efforts, it helps to put a face to a name. My family came to the Roney in 2019 and we love everything about it and about the community - except for the overnight illegal rental situation which has become exceedingly more obvious since the conclusion of the construction. Efforts to understand the situation by inquiring of management and the Board immediately raised red flags - they seem to be in complete denial. Without clear answers from management, it became quickly apparent to myself and to the many fellow unit owners I had met, that there was only one avenue available to us - data. And requisition data I did.

My agenda and messages have been consistent since I began this endeavor. More and more of the hundreds of emails I have exchanged with the Board, Counsel and Marquis will be posted and will bear this out. For now I will summarize:
To the Board - I have only asked that they do their job - operate with integrity, follow the rules, uphold our governing documents to insure that illegal overnight rentals are eliminated, serve the silent majority instead of the vocal minority and be transparent to a fault with unit owners - not because you have to but because you have nothing to hide.
To Marquis - I have asked repeatedly what we can do to insure that those on front lines have the tools and support needed to take decisive and effective action. The response - a fining committee - they need a fining committee. Why is that so hard?
To Association Counsel - I have asked that he protect the Association first and foremost, not the board, to look at the reams of evidence presented to him, to advocate for what is reasonable instead of using the law as a shield for inexcusable behavior. It should not have to be said that just because someone can legally do something doesn't mean they should - integrity is everything.

In reality, guest card fee revenue will be reduced to zero when we eliminate illegal overnight rentals. I am working toward that reality. I harp on guest card fees only to highlight, what in my opinion, is the Board's brazen disregard for the best interests of the community they serve. I heard it said that those who elected them, are those that they serve. I hope this mobilizes the masses come next election.
